Hope I’m not too late to wish all of you a HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2013 passed by in a blur, and I’ve got to say that it was passed way more quickly than any other year I can remember. Not quite sure why, but it all went down pretty well, considering that it happened right after 2012 (duh), which was hands down the toughest year I’ve had in my life.
I have had so much on my mind, and so much has happened, but I have yet to find the quiet time and space to sit down and get all my thoughts settled and write a piece on what 2013 has taught me. Shall get down to doing that soon!
Either way, gonna take this time to share about this concept which I found pretty interesting – it totally capitalises on the fact that we are all suckers for new year resolutions. And these resolutions usually involve some form of weight loss regime, or something health-related, especially since we are coming off from some insane feasting during the festive period. So here goes:
Fit To Win (FTW): Singapore’s First Social Weight Loss Challenge
Fit To Win (FTW) is Singapore’s first social weight loss challenge where participants can lose weight and get fit via a revolutionary betting and competition system.
The concept is simple. Players begin by placing a bet of SGD$20 into a general money pot. Everyone who loses 5% or more of their starting weight over the course of eight weeks gets to split the pot equally. In addition, the top three players who loses the highest percentage of their starting weight will be further rewarded with prizes worth up to SGD$3,000.
On top of providing a platform for like-minded Singaporeans to lose weight together, Fit To Win goes further by offering every player a fully sponsored eight-week fitness program to help them reach their goals – every Fit To Win player will be entitled to free fitness classes, such as Zumba, Bokwa, Kickboxing, Pilates, Muay Thai and more, conducted by FTW’s fitness partners.
FTW aims to introduce an entirely new way for Singaporeans to lose weight and get fit by making it a social activity so that the commitment and discipline required has a chance of outlasting the firs 1-2 weeks of enthusiasm, and through elements of gamification, cause we all know that rewards do provide us with that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Most importantly, FTW aims to drive positive behavioural change for its participants by building a friendly community that offers support and motivation such that every one pushes together towards common goal.
A pretty nifty idea, if you ask me, especially at a time where a) everyone’s looking to shed off the year-end weight gain, and b) having a healthy lifestyle is at the top of most people’s new year resolutions. An effective weight loss programme and/or a great marketing idea? Time (and duration of your enthusiasm) will tell!
Registration is now open on FTW’s official website.
