Talk about more strategic partnerships springing up of late. Recently we shared the partnership between Luxottica and Google Glass and then adidas Originals with Singapore startups. This week we see another partnership between foodpanda, an online food delivery platform that acts as an online marketplace with the widest gastronomic range available to customers, and OpenRice, a leading food and restaurant review website for comprehensive restaurant information, user-generated restaurant reviews and table booking services.
This is how the partnership is set to look: foodpanda will display food reviews from OpenRice on each restaurant profile to give their customers access to more in-depth recommendations and user feedback, and conversely, OpenRice will display a foodpanda delivery widget on each restaurant profile’s overview tab, so that users can order their meals directly from their preferred local restaurant.
What this means for us in layman terms is an enhanced consumer experience by bringing together the key strengths of each company’s websites, and customers can now comb through over 1.6 million OpenRice-reviews to choose their favourite delivery restaurant.
We firmly believe that our partnership will help in creating more choice, more transparency and more convenience for our mutual customers.
– Ralf Wenzel, Global Managing Director, foodpanda
The partnership will be launching its first phase primarily in Singapore, India and Thailand, and subsequently, in Malaysia and Indonesia. A pretty strategic move, we say, given that Singapore is such a foodie country, with spending over US4 billion in the dining sector each year.
